Setting .NET framework 3.5 or 3.0 is really annoying task in windows. Here is a small workaround that can solve this issue.
.NET Framework 3.5 is needed by some softwares like Windows Live Writer, Windows 7 USB/DVD tool, etc.
Go to control panel -> Programs and Features –> Turn Windows Features on or off.
In that, enable .net framework 3.5 and save it as shown below
And now, after the above step, you may any of these two errors (Ex. your network may be behind a proxy server, etc).
0x800f0906: “Windows couldn't connect to the Internet to download necessary files. Make sure that you're connected to the Internet, and click Retry to try again.”
0x800F081F: “The changes could not be completed. Please reboot your computer and try again.”
to solve the above issue, Open command prompt with administrative privileges.
and paste the following line)
DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:\sources\sxs
instead of D:/source/sxs (you may use your own path to the framework).
Unzip or unrar the windows 8 iso file into a directory and find sources/sxs and give that path and that’s it!!!
.NET framework 3.5 gets installed.
